Who are orthodontists?
Orthodontists are dentists who have completed at least two years of advanced university based orthodontic study following graduation from dental school. Orthodontists correct malocclusions (crooked teeth or those that do not fit together properly) and misalignment of the teeth and jaws.
How do braces work?
Braces are the most efficient and accurate way of moving teeth.

Braces (bands, brackets and wires) are usually made of stainless steel although some patients choose clear brackets. We can discuss the advantages and disadvantages of clear brackets at the final consultation. Fitting the braces usually involves two visits. Braces remain on the teeth for the entire duration of treatment.
Patients then are seen approximately every 4 to 8 weeks for adjustments, wire changes, etc.
When should my child start treatment?
This is the most common question we receive. We have dedicated a separate web page to this subject. Click on this link to view the answer: Link to answer
How long will the treatment take?
That depends on several factors including maturation (growth) of the patient. Dr. Goins-Crank can evaluate each case and give you an estimate after examining the prospective patient. On average treatment takes approximately 24 months.
Is the total treatment fee due when orthodontic treatment begins?
No. We realize that a fee for the average 24 months of orthodontic treatment represents a significant investment in most family budgets. We offer several monthly payment options, including a discount for payment in full plan and a no-down payment plan. To view our payment plans click here.
